He is not trolling. He is genuinely threatening our sovereignty, and we are taking that seriously. The United States is an enemy nation.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Are you guys arming yourselves via a rearmament program like pre WW2? Because you should be if you take him seriously. The best don’t tread on me animal is a porcupine. Defensive

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 weeks ago

The porcupine's only weak spot is its face. Which is why the pine martin eats the porcupine's face. Not sure how that affects this metaphor but it's a cool nature fact.

If the US invades, there's no amount of rearming that would stop them from completely destroying us. Acquiring nukes would be our best bet.

The US military has always proved to be very vulnerable to guerilla warfare, they've lost a few wars due to guerilla warfare. Canadians know their landscape and they know how to hunt and shoot, they'd put together an excellent guerilla force, and they could easily blend with American soldiers. They are also comfortable with the cold. A MAGA invasion of Canada in the Winter will be like the Nazis invading Russia. Also, all of Europe will suppport Canada.

A good portion of the US military will refuse to follow orders to invade, and resign, defect, or go AWOL, and whoever is left will be nearly universally unmotivated to invade Canada. Many military leaders will work behind the scenes to sabotage the illegal invasion. Those disenchanted military personnel will find the competent, experienced military that HitlerPig fired, ready and waiting to build a strong, motivated military force to oppose MAGA on Canada's behalf.

In addition, 2/3+ of America will never support the invasion of Canada for ANY reason, and will align with Canada. HitlerPig will be forced to waste resources dealing with the uprising at home, distracting him from his foolish invasion.

Any HitlerPig military operation will be defined by virtuosic incompetence, which is his most reliable characteristic. He will be fighting his own military and citizen population every step of the way.

Yeah, it'd be a three day special military operation. Just like when Russia took Ukraine.

Americans are extremely averse to casualties and pain. We could make an invasion hurt. I doubt they'd be able to endure a genuine war that genuinely enters their homeland. Not for long.

He got elected because people thought he was trolling, and thought it was funny. Now he's actually doing those things, and worse. So why would anyone not take these threats seriously?

[–] [email protected] 108 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

He literally said he was not trolling.

[–] [email protected] 71 points 3 weeks ago (5 children)

And even in the most insanely charitable world where we assume he is "trolling", he's still saying an intensely offensive thing to Canadians without any reason other than "lulz." That's the most charitable possible interpretation and it's still awful.

Of course, most Americans don't realize it's an intensely offensive thing. That's a major part of the problem.

"America is the greatest nation on earth, why wouldn't another country want to be part of it?"

That's what happens when a population is spoon-fed "patriotism" from birth. All the nationalism and propaganda is doing its job promoting American exceptionalism while diminishing empathy and critical thinking.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Reciting every day in school how great your country is, is peak brainwashing to me. When I learned about that, it was so weird to me.

No way in hell would I want to be part of that dumpster fire shit hole.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 weeks ago

As someone who lives in America, I don’t understand how anyone DOES NOT think it’s offensive and threatening and a horrible stance for a president to have. But the ones that don’t think it’s a big deal is how we got where we are and I’m disappointed in my country… again.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago

Don't confuse not knowing with not caring.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago

I wonder if Musk taught him this trick. He keeps pulling it out of his ass every time negative news (that he actually cares about like his recent polling numbers) comes out and he wants to distract from it. This is exactly what Musk used to do before he took the mask off.

Vote!

Edit: I'm addressing Canadians.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

If you mean "go vote to change things" or something along those lines, then I need to remind you that only people from USA can vote in the USA elections and that not everyone you'll find online is from USA. Have a good day.

[–] [email protected] 42 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Canadian election is today. Who they choose is who's gonna have to handle or succumb to Trump.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 weeks ago

Good for Canadians then, I wish them the best.

I was addressing my fellow Canadians, because the Canadian election is today. Ironically, it seems you assumed I was an American talking about the USA.

How about you worry about your own shithole country.

[–] [email protected] 32 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

If Canadians seeing this can take anything from the last few months, it's that they have got to get out there and vote.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

“Don’t you want empty ports too???”

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 weeks ago

Big beautiful ports. The biggest ports.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Canada could use another few provinces... California, interested?

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (5 children)

We’re interested. Oregon, Washington and Hawaii is onboard too.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Then make an alliance with Mexico (and countries in Central and South America) and 2/3 of America will be surrounded by hostile territory.

I'm actually kind of glad to see this. Should drive turnout for Carney.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 weeks ago

I can't think of a more helpful thing he could have said.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (11 children)

Should drive turnout for Carney.

Ah yes another liberal who’ll fail to defend our countries borders, another Trudeau but this time with pizzaz.

If there ever is a war with the US I sure as shit want access to real firearms, none of this 3 rounds per mag headache we got now.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

And how, pray tell, is a "real" firearm going to help defend against the most technologically advanced army in the world, who can take you out from half a planet away without you ever seeing anyone until you are ginsu-bladed in half (reference: https://www.pcmag.com/news/us-used-drone-carrying-knife-missile-to-kill-al-qaeda-chief)?

We don't need more firearms in personal hands when it comes to our national defence, we need alliances, a better standing army, and probably some form of nuclear deterrence. Thinking you'll make any meaningful difference with your personal firearm and a couple of hours on the gun range is the exact same magical thinking 2FA nuts keep using while the US government takes their rights and freedoms away.

So he can destroy their economy and international standing too?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Sorry… is hectoring supposed to be heckling? Trump is the hector in this case; he can’t make Canada the hector. When the first non-proper-noun word out of a writer’s keyboard is that far off what they meant, I have difficulty taking anything else they write as anything but regurgitated vaguely understood hearsay.

[–] [email protected] 30 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Ackshually it's only Hectoring if you drag them behind your chariot, otherwise it's just sparkling heckling.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

That reminds me, Troy deserves a rewatch soon. Love those fight scenes.

Hectoring is to act domineering, or to try to intimidate.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Can someone slap this guy already?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 weeks ago

Best I can do is slam

Of course he couldn't keep his mouth shut for the whole month. Gonna be consequences, Donny.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago

Trump is gonna be so butthurt that after he told Canadians to elect PeePee who was gonna make Canada the 51st state, Canadians took away his seat. Nope nope nope.
