"to the best of my ability."

Well, I'd almost argue he's following to the letter.

[–] [email protected] 38 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Founders when they realize they left out the part where the president understands what the constitution is.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 days ago

"It's ok, only land owners can vote and if you have money that means you're A Smart Person™©® and will not vote for some absolute joke of a person who's so obviously corrupt it hurts to even think about. Yup that about nails it. Slap on some signatures and call this baby a government, done and done!"

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 days ago

Don't give him the village idiot pass. Stupidity implies some of the damage he's done is without intent; he's just accidentally raping the constitution.

Whether or not he is an idiot (and I mean... he is) we should treat him as though every single thing he's done is calculated and intentional. He is an enemy to the United States.

...and on the topic of oaths, every single person in the military swore an oath to defend the constitution from domestic enemies like Trump, so if anyone in the armed forces is reading this, could y'all get off your ass and do your job, please?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

Especially since he's an absolute dipshit, the best of his ability is extremely poor.

[–] [email protected] 96 points 2 days ago (2 children)

To be fair, there’s only one way to hold him accountable and the people that can won’t.

[–] [email protected] 48 points 2 days ago (2 children)

We need another Luigi, is that what I'm hearing?

[–] [email protected] 30 points 2 days ago

Or someone from Butler with better aim

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 days ago (2 children)

One Luigi won't cut at this point. That would make things worse.

Oh there's more than one way. But only one real legal method sure.

I think this misrepresents the conversation that actually happened. Paraphrasing, it was something like this:

R: The constitution says you cannot deport people without due process. Do you agree? Trump: No, I'm not sure... R: It says so in the Fifth. Trump: I don't know, I'm not a lawyer. R: Do you agree that you have to follow the constitution? Trump: I don't know, I'm not a lawyer. Due process for millions of people does not sound possible.

While it could be taken from that convo that Trump did say he doesn't know if he should follow the constitution, I think that it is clear that he was probably saying something like "I don't know where the Constitution stands on due process."

I'll say though, it is crazy for him to say he doesn't know what the Constitution says. I know he probably does that for legal reasons. Anyway, for a president who swore to follow the constitution seemingly not knowing anything about the constitution is preposterous, to say the least.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago

I know I said it and all that. I just don't know if I have to do it

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 days ago

Just like with laws, oaths mean absolutely nothing if they're not enforced.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 2 days ago (6 children)

To Americans in the audience, what do all the clowns that voted for this say right now?

They still gargling his mushroom?

[–] [email protected] 41 points 2 days ago

I'm guessing that Fox News isn't covering this so they probably don't even know he said it.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I have 1 MAGA "friend" and it's only because we have to work together. He truly believes everything Trump has done is wonderful, even as he has to pick up a 2nd job to afford daily expenses.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 days ago (2 children)

How do they respond to the notion that maybe they wouldn't need the 2nd job if the economy was where it was when Biden left his office?

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 days ago

Brown people are getting deported. That's all that matters.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I’ve worked with a lot of Americans over the years- and I can confidently say that the one common thing uniting every one of them is that they’re pants-pissingly terrified to admit they may have been wrong about something.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 days ago

they don't know this is happening

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

US has been okay with war criminals, as their presidents, so what's another fascist?

oh it's a problem now because it's turning on its own people? hmm… who woulda guessed unchecked power turns authoritarian?

If you can't name all fifty states, you shouldn't be president...

But why go with that when IF YOU ARE A FUCKING FELON YOU SHOULD NOT BE PRESIDENT.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 days ago

No, like, he literally doesn't know what that means.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He took the oath, as did every member of Congress, and every member of our military.

I suspect we're going to find out how much the oath is worth.

He gets to claim he's too stupid to understand what those words mean in that order

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Oath clearly refers to the physical document. Doesn't say a thing about the words scribbled on it. That's why he's got it framed in the oval office: so he can keep close eye on it and make sure no one crumples it up.

Less than ideal, but as luck would have it the French have already crafted a marvelous invention to solve these kinds of problems.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is where you go to learn about the constitution, Mr. President. Just place your head in the learning hole.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago

If I ever open a school I will definitely be calling it the learning hole.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago

"To the best of my ability"

so technically not a lie.

(to clairify, because people on the internet tend to be bad at subtlety: I'm calling trump an incompetent moron with the above text. Actively and intentionally destroying the US IS defending it to the best of his ability, because he's an incompetent moron. Remember, this is a guy who bankrupted a casino more than once.)

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

Oh shit, our Senators are TWEETING!!!!

Fuck you Raskin, do your fucking job.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 days ago

The incorrect assumption is that he has taken a vow or oath in good faith or with intention to follow through.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Fanta Führer doesn't give a fuck about our Constitution...

Thanks! I actually saw it on here a few days ago and decided that it was definitely a keeper.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

You won't believe this 1 crazy trick to do whatever you want while the US president.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Didn’t trump legally argue during his first term that he doesn’t have to “uphold” the constitution because the specific word “uphold” was not in the oath?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago

He's the most sovereign citizen

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

Ooof, I somehow glossed over the words "Office of" at first and that sentence gets a whole other meaning 😳

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago

Maybe the "Office of" part should be dropped 🤣

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I don’t see the problem. And since we got to this point it’s probably wise to stop calling him stupid. He’s just not our kind of cunning and intelligent, but he’s not stupid.

This is putting the problem front and centre, as if the 2nd amendment wasn’t showing it with the bazillions of school shootings over there: you can’t trust that some fallible political and legal writers of 200 years ago could have foreseen or provided a guiding document for a world with ad-sale-optimised social media algorithms, cruise control, semi automatic weapons, and currencies and crypto all disconnected from a gold standard.

He is upholding and protecting the constitution to the best of his ability. Either the people in that country really misjudged his ability or as I mentioned before, he’s a cheater, and he cheated.

Your country was broken when JFK was “couped”. It was broken when they got Reagan in. It broke more when they flew planes in their own buildings and lied about WMDs to start 20 years wars to only lose them. Your country is lost and fucked, not to mention run, controlled, brainwashed and bought by a genocidal zionist death cult, and it’s because nobody ever did anything about it, and they all thought that having a semi automatic in their garage meant no matter how bad it got, they would be able to defend themselves.

They tricked you into thinking that flag was your community, but sneakily you’ve each and every one become the most selfish and scared little persons in the world. Nobody is jealous about anything the US brings to this world.

You are reaping so fucking massively what you have sawn through generations of passivity and wanking to that flag as if its made out God’s own underwear.

You broke it. Fix it.

He’s merely the embodiment of your collective failure.

E: only 4 downvotes? Maybe there is hope

Seems pretty cut and dry....
