Being a patient gamer, I will just wait a little longer for this game to hit my price point.

There's been an interesting development; Krafton have responded with some pretty direct claims and the founders are suing.

TL;DR the most important claim seems to be

In particular, following the failure of Moonbreaker, KRAFTON asked Charlie to devote himself to the development of Subnautica 2. However, instead of participating in the game development, he chose to focus on a personal film project.

Ever since the Doom Eternal Mick Gordon situation there has been several more controversies (Bayonetta's VA pay comes to mind) where it seems the first person to make the claim is hiding something. Is it an attempt to control the narrative? It has always backfired so far so we'll see if that trend continues.

I have an unrelated headache, but the constant allcaps of KRAFTON really makes me want to nail someone's dick shut.

Amen. Just gives boomer vibes and makes the whole thing more irritating.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 12 hours ago

It's worse than boomer vibes. It's corporate vibes.

Krafton has a history of misleading, lying to, and screwing over developers. Nothing they say is worth the bandwidth used to transmit it. Given the timing and other statements, it seems abundantly clear that this is nothing more than a brazen attempt to steal a quarter of a billion dollars from the developers.

Went from an "instant buy" to a "never purchase on principle". Such a shame.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Same here. I was definitely going to buy as soon as it hit early access, I loved 1 and even liked Below Zero, I was as assured a sale as they get.

Not anymore. Blocked, blacklisted, and forgotten.

On a related note, did you guys know you can block a whole publisher on Steam from ever showing up in your feed? Click on the publisher's name on any game they're involved with to go to their page, and use the little cogwheel to the right of the Featured, Lists, Brows and so on buttons. You can ignore them, and poof, gone from your steam pages. If anyone deserves to be thrown into the pit like that, it's definitely KRAFTON. Fuck'em.

Is there a way to block literally all studios that have a parent company? Because I don't think parent companies are good things. Nestle is a parent company, QED.

That's exactly what I did after Activision fucked over Infinity Ward. I used to play them all the time, but haven't bought anything Call of Duty since.

Doesn't mean much, but I'm doing what little I can.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

To be fair, if you've bought one call of duty, you've bought them all.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 16 hours ago

I've literally lost track of what call of duty we are even supposed to be on, which is the most up-to-date one. Does even have campaign mode anymore.

That's kind of where I'm at with Borderlands 4 and that shit stain Randy Pitchford. His situation isn't as bad as this I think, but it's a deal breaker none the less. Don't bite the hand that feeds mother fuckers.

Il buy it on sale once the game tanks and they fire that asshole.

But I haven't been looking forward to a game as much as Subnautica 2, and now it's off the radar..

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

I'm wondering if the first one needs to go from a game I recommend highly (or upvote recommendations of if I'm too late) to one I no longer acknowledge because the same assholes probably get paid from each of those sales, too.

No dont review bomb, just dont buy it at all. Review bomb does absolutely nothing. Fuck krafton.

porque no los dos?

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I can say that personally, I do hesitate if I see a game with mixed reviews and will at least check out why people don't like it. And if steam says a high volume of "irrelevant" (or whatever word they use) reviews are not shown, I'll click through to see what they are about to decide for myself if they are relevant or just losers whining about "woke" shit.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, from a user standpoint, but companies won't use it as much of a metric as they do sales.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

bad reviews -> people hesitate to buy -> impact on sales

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not buying -> impact on sales

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

and how do people know which game to not buy? by reading reviews

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Yes, but buying the game to leave a negative review is against the point.

what happens is you get:

Do not buy! Time at review: 0.9 hours (Total played: 356 hours)

Which basically tells people its some bullshit protest.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Too bad everyone will buy it anyway. Point me to a boycott of a video game that actually materialized..... I'll wait...

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 days ago

This isnt anywhere near the level of mainstream game that most of these boycotts are focused on. It's definitely a more niche audience.

The biggest thing is if streamers get in on the boycott. That'll affect sales the most.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago

I know, people are pushovers.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yar har, fiddle-dee-dee Do what you want cuz a pirate is free...

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago

I am a pirate!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

Yo ho ho and a magnet link for thee.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 2 days ago (1 children)

God damn, I was looking forward to it but that’s fucked up.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

I also was. Extremely disappointing. I will "find" a place to download it though without having to pay.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 2 days ago
[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago

Wow that's some bullshit. They deserve this boycott.
